Background and Approach

I believe many of the ways we learned to think, react, protect ourselves, and relate to others began long before we realized it. What once helped us survive, belong, stay connected, or make sense of difficult experiences can eventually become the very thing that leaves us feeling stuck.
Therapy with me is about becoming curious about those patterns rather than simply trying to get rid of them.
My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and collaborative. I integrate EMDR, Internal Family Systems and parts work, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and other evidence-informed approaches based on the needs of each client. When appropriate, I also incorporate Animal Assisted Therapy and Christian faith into the counseling process.
I don't believe therapy should be a place where you are given easy answers, told to “think positively,” or rushed toward forgiveness, acceptance, or change before you're ready. There is room to tell the truth about what happened, how it affected you, and what it still costs you today.
Together, we can begin to understand not only what you're experiencing, but why it makes sense that you learned to respond this way. From there, we can work toward new ways of relating to yourself, your experiences, and the people around you.
The goal isn't to erase your story. It's to help you live with greater freedom, connection, and choice in what happens next.
There is still time.

My Philosophy

I hold the conviction that every person’s life story provides vital context for who they are today. The subconscious ways we protect ourselves, react to others, and seek connection are often lifelong patterns formed in our pasts.
Counseling offers a secure environment to explore your history without the pressure of forced optimism or simplistic solutions. It is about honoring where you have been while making space for true change.
While your history is significant, it does not define your future.
There is still time.
